STILL CRAZY...after all these years!!

Tattered and in shreds.........

But this old girl had my name on it......................

Literally...........!!!

This quilt is dated 1894 and has many initials on it,
but the stitching all looks the same so I wonder if it was done by one person?

Lots of stitching inspiration......

The fabric over the date square has long since shredded, but the
date, tattered ,still remains.

I have a project in mind for this, I'll keep ya posted!

IN THE GARDEN.........................................................................................................................
First black poppy................

So pretty, but don't last very long.......wish I had "oodles" of them!!!
Maybe if  I shake the pods over the bed I will get more?

ALSO.....one of the longest garder snake skins I have ever seen....
I am sparing you a pic of that!!
This particular snake has been sunning himself daily along my watering hose
basking in the warmth! (scaring the heck out of me over and over)

I am hoping he shed his skin and left town!!!!!

  1. I love the quilt. So glad you got it instead of the 'other' one.
On the poppy I've had better luck by saving the pods until the next spring and then sprinkling them in fresh scratched soil.

  3. Your quilt is a treasure. I had one memory quilt - gave it to my lovely quilter sister. I do NOT like those garter snakes, they scare me silly. Black poppy - glad you have a photo - I've never seen a live one. So fragile and mysterious.

  4. L-O-V-E the quilt and your name makes it even sweeter...but the snakeskin...so creepy! I was cleaning out my back porch organizing all of my candle jars and stuck to the sides of the jars was a snakeskin...now don't you know I have to wash it off all the jars...now that's icky!!!!

Thank God for the poppy, how wonderful and it totally took my mind off the snakeskin...sorta!

  6. Thank you for your kind words during your visit. I LOVE this Quilt, what a score, at advanced age and because of the delicate materials used such as silk & velvets they do tend to deteriorate... mine is too but I so love using it & I just try to be very gentle and careful. I'm still crazy about them after all these years too, crazy quilts are my favorite form of quilting and its so rare to find one that anyone is willing to part with. Having your Name on it surely meant that you and this quilt were destined for each other!

  8. Isn't it wonderful when the universe sends you gifts like this? And at least the snake wasn't in the skin...I remember digging potatoes with my aunt and finding a huge snake all curled up under a potato plant. We were both screaming and hopping around so much I think he just got disgusted and slithered off to find a quieter napping place. My grandfather, who was watching from the porch, laughed so hard he fell off his chair...
